Sheridan Smith will star as Titania in Michael Grandage’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Noel Coward Theatre. Sheridan will act alongside David Walliams as Bottom, as well as Katherine Kingsley , Susannah Fielding, Stefano Braschi and Sam Swainsbury who play lovers Helena, Hermia, Demetrius and Lysander.

Sheridan Smith was born in 1981 and shot to fame at the age of 20 in Two Pints of Larger and a Packet of Crisps, a British sitcom about a group of twenty something’s that ran for 10 years. Smith then went on to feature in popular television series’ Benidorm, Gavin and Stacey and Jonathan Creek. In 2012 Sheridan delivered a critically acclaimed performance as Charmain Biggs in the five part TV drama Mrs Biggs.

Despite perhaps being most well known for her roles on popular television series’, Sheridan has a wealth of onstage acting experience and has performed in successful runs in Into the Woods at the Donmar Warehouse, Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre, where she also performed in a different production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Smith’s most successful stage productions include Little Shop of Horrors which transferred to the West End following a sell out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Legally Blonde in which she played leading lady Elle Woods and Trevor Nunn’s production of Flare Path, which she starred in alongside Sienna Miller. Sheridan took part in the workshop for a musical version of Bridget Jones’ Diary, which is rumoured to be in creation for the West End.
Sheridan Smith has been well awarded as an actress and has received awards for both her on screen and stage roles. In 2012 she won a BAFTA award for Best Actress for her role as the title role of Charmain Biggs in Mrs Biggs. In both 2011 and 2012 consecutively Sheridan won prestigious Laurence Olivier Awards. In 2011 she was given the award of Best Actress her performance as Elle Wood in Legally Blonde and in 2012 she won Best Supporting actress for her role in Flare Path.
