David Walliams is set to star as Bottom in Michael Grandage’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Noel Coward Theatre. Walliams will star opposite Sheridan Smith who will play his love interest, Titania. The show, which opens in September 2013 will also star Katherine Kingsley , Susannah Fielding, Stefano Braschi and Sam Swainsbury who play lovers Helena, Hermia, Demetrius and Lysander.
David on Television
As an Actor, David is best known for his long running comedic partnership with Matt Lucas which most famously produced the comedy sketch show Little Britain. The pair have also worked together to create Rock Profile and BBC sitcom Come Fly With Me. Walliams has also appeared on Top Gear, Doctor who and starred in the Fat Les song “Vindaloo.”
David as a Presenter
As well as being a successful Actor, David Walliams is also a well known TV personality and presenter. He has hosted well known shows such as The Friday Night Project and in 2006 Walliams presented a special one off documentary on the James Bond Franchise entitled David Walliams: My Life With James Bond.
David on Stage
Whilst David has a wealth of acting experience, his stage appearances tend to be rather few and far between. The last time David played on the West End stage was in the 2008 production of No Man’s Land at the Duke of York’s Theatre. After what is almost a five year hiatus from the West End stage, David will grace the boards of the Noel Coward Theatre with his presence as Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
At the 2012 National Television Awards David won the Landmark Achievement Award for his television career achievements to date.
